Me/my condition - I’m 6’2 250lbs and have had thoracic and lower back issues along with mild scoliosis. I’ve been managing this through a chiropractor and just living with the pain for years. At some point I figured I would have to deal with a doctor or surgeon, but I’ve been managing for now. The chiro adjustments help but over the years I have had constant stiffness in my middle back that just always felt like it needed to pop, but it never would. I tried an inversion table and foam rollers and they never did much. I saw this and figured I would give it a try.
Setup - It arrived promptly and is very will made with clear instructions. I put it together in about 10 minutes.
Day 1 - I used it probably 5 times that day, just trying to get a feel for it. I got a good stretch, like you get with a child’s pose yoga stretch, but I was not overly impressed. I did feel the muscles in my lower back felt warmer and maybe a bit more lose after using.
Days 2&3- I started getting better stretches, and a few minor pops. I still had my doubts in spending $250+ on this.
Day 4 - This day was awesome. I used it and got a bit more of a stretch and a bit more more popping. That night I used it before bed and got a good pop in the mid back area. It still needed to pop but that was the most movement I have had in that area for years. It also felt warm, similar to day 1. I went to bed and about an hour later I was on my side asleep and was awoken by a crackling sound. I thought I rolled over on something, but then realized it was my back releasing for lack of better terms. It felt great, a top 10 feeling moment in my life (if that’s a thing). I went back to sleep and was awoken again by the cracklings a few hours later and a little higher up in my spine. When I woke up, no pain, no I slept on it weird, etc. it just felt like I was 20 years old again.
Day 5 started off okay, but I was using the crap out of the machine trying to get a repeat of that wonderful pop, crack from the night before. That night I got in the hot tub to really loosen thing up before my pre-bedtime use of the Nubax. I really forced the stretch and overdid it. My lower back tightened up and the pain radiated through my lower back/hip area and around to my ribs. I hobbled to bed and tried to sleep the best I could.
Day 6 - I rested and did not use it. My back loosened up over the day and by bed time it felt fine.
Day 7+ - I use the Nubax 2-4 times a day as directed. I don’t get the good pops anymore, but my back doesn’t feel like it needs it. My thoracic and lower back feel great, probably a 90% improvement. I still get some tightness in my upper back and do not suspect that will ever get worked with the Nubax, but it really works for my lower and mid back. I’m hoping I can play golf and some of the other more physical things I have given up on over the years.
Hope this helps.
UPDATE - 1.5 years later and I'm still loving this and stand by my 5-star rating. I use it 1-2 times a week to help give a good stretch. I might get a pop or release every now and then but nothing like the amazing snap crackle pop within the first 2 weeks of owning it. I should probably use it more often than 1-2 times a week, but my back has been nearly pain-free so I do not always think about it. I highly recommend this for mid-back tension.
Thanks for your interest and enquiry about or Nubax Trio spinal traction device.
The Nubaxc Trio applies a strong static traction along the entire length of the spine. It is however most effective from about the T6 down to the base of the spine. Mid Thoracic and lumbar.
Unfortunately we do not have a distributor in Canada as yet. However if you go to www.nubaxtraction.com you will be able to purchase from there and it will be delivered to your address.
If I can be of any further assistance please don’t hesitate to let me know.
I believe that the numbering of the spine of each section cervical thoracic and lumber goes from 1 and then counts down each vertbre, so t12 is at the bottom not the top.
I felt the most pull in the lower back but any pull in my thoracic was wonderful. It really does feel like a traction device. Like others say go slow and you can move your knees around to get a different stretch.
The pain did go away but I know that there are still problems but this device helped my form the idea that I have alot of myofasical trigger points along my spine and around my back. So I am using the rubber beastie balls the yellow and clear one which I lay on at different paintful sites for 3 to 5 minutes each to melt away the myofasica that is to concrete like. Look up the info your self and use this books protocal you can find on the web or buy the book Myofascial Stretching: A Guide to Self-Treatment from jill and brenda.
These two thin gs have helped the most and I can say the chronic ball of pain is gone but the lesser pains do come back if I am sitting aclkwardly with whatever chair or position. But now, using the beastie ball, then this device, and then stretching to help remove and form better myofasical for the back I feel I figured out my problem. So this is my process now
The only thing I can say is that the pain was so great I thought it had to be nerve damage after all these years and now I believe its bad myofasica. And this device helps stretch it out and helps put somewhat of a pumping action on your disks to remove fluids and wastes when u hold a stretch for 1.5 minutes release 15 secs and then do that again a few more times. Remember there are still many more tomorrows so u can do a bit on it twice a day. I think you can abruptly over stretch your lower back if you fall into the stretch to fast.
I feel the device stretch from my spine at the area below my armpits down to the lower back. And the stretching is felt more at the lower back than above but I knew my back wanted a traction stretch.
I have never tried an inversion table or hang from a bar with teeter boots they are called?
Anyway I'm canadian and I live close the border and so I go it sent close to the border of the usa and I brought it back home.
I did not proof read.
Bye Bye
